Hallelujah for Jet Blue Customer Service

Posted on | May 1, 2009 |

Hallelujah for Jet Blue customer servie! Not only were they one of two airlines to have reported a profit this past quarter, they have the most helpful check-in clerks that I have encountered on a consistent basis. They listen to their customer comments in person and act upon them right away if possible. They also assist their customers when handling any issue that is within their realm to solve.

A passenger at check-in in front of me left her camera behind on the counter. When I pointed this out to the clerks, all three of them jumped right in and tried to ascertain whose camera it was. Then like in a scene from a movie, one of the attendants lept into action stepping deftly over the scale to track down the would-be owner of the misplaced camera. It was great fun to watch especially since I was the one who actually ‘found’ the camera.

Then it was my turn. I stepped up to the counter, put my bag on the scale, and then realized that there was actually room for just a little more weight. I had yet to reach the fifty pound mark and there was no way that missing weight was going to go unpacked!

However, in the time that it took to bend down to take the pair of shoes in my carry on out and place it in my checked bag, the scale jumped up three pounds, leaving only one pound more that was available for packing. The Jet Blue customer service clerk noticed my dilemma and said go ahead and put your shoes in, “we are not going to ‘nickel and dime’ you over a half to one pound”.

Well that was just great! Thank you to Jet Blue for living in reality. Also, thank you for not charging me to check my luggage and still keeping your fares low. Hallelujah for Jet Blue Customer Service!

My husband and I recently were returning form Boston to Oakland. Flight 477 Logan arriving from Dullas. The flight was running late due to bad weather. An empty plane was taken out of the hanger for service. Our flight was originally due to depart Logan @ 7:20 being delayed until 9 pm. We boarded the new plane @8:45 pushed from the gate and proceeded to sit there for almost 4 hours. There apparently were passengers in the back of the plane being rude and demanding to exit the plane. There was some kind of electrical problem with the air conditioning and it was a very stuffy warm flight home. We finally were going to leave @ 1145 and the pilot made an announcement that if the people insisted on exiting the plane the flight would be cancelled. I was furious the they would even consider canceling the flight , a full plane for a few people. Also we used up so much fuel sitting there our nonstop flight had to make a refuel stop in Salt Lake. Our 5 hour flight was 9 hours total. We were very unhappy with our return flight. Marsha Harris

Jet Blue wasn’t so great the last time I flew from L.A. to New York and had a serious asthma attack because at 6:30 am, a stewardess was doused in perfume. It was on the manifest that the flyer in 1D was severely allergic. She hovered around me with a smirk on her face as I took a handful of steroids, sprays and pills which still didn’t work. They almost had to land the plane. She was carted off to the back for the remainder of the flight. When I complained to customer service afterwards, they apologized for my inconvenience. Hello?! The original stewardesses were nurses. Nurses are taught not to wear perfume as it could cause a patient discomfort. I quote the Jet Blue stewardess’s comment to me when I told her I couldn’t breathe: I put it on an hour ago. Big deal.
